Volunteer Article: MAGIC JUST HAPPENS AS PEOPLE EXCHANGE LOVE

After nearly a week helping build a pool at An Tay orphanage, the teachers and students at Realms of Inquiry have to say goodbye to Hue and all people here. “This is the best experience that I have never seen before in our trip” cited in Mathew and his students’ speeches. Digging a hole, taking sand out of that hole, transporting sands, etc seem to be very new to them; however, so much fun they could get from that. Just thinking of one day, the children can have an ideal playground to play, they could try their best and work harder and harder. This could be all kids’ pleasure to receive the love sharing and concerns from members of Realms of Inquiry school.

Through them, we volunteers can suddenly realize that we sometimes missed enjoying beautiful things around. We did not realize the beauty of art hidden in art. Instead of just enjoying the fully-made works, they experienced the process of creating that art work. Everyone might be very happy as they themselves can create an art work, even at times it is not perfect. The Japanese bridge is our second destination in our tour around Hue. Many people seems not to forget the female fortune teller who can predict the future in English or laughes after Tiana is predicted to have 5 kids soon. Leaving the Japanese bridge, we all went to one local restaurant to enjoy local food and had so nice conversations together.

What is not expected in the trip is to have to say goodbye with new friends, with familiar places which used to be strange places. However, that is the circle of life. A farewell party is successfully hold in warm atmostphere with a variety of performances from kids at An Tay orphanage, both teachers and students at Realms of Inquiry school, volunteer Christ with his intrument and Hue Help volunteers. If it were not for the help of Organisation of Friendship Union, Hue Help Organisation and teachers and students of Realms of Inquiry, it could not be that cool. A campfire at the end of the program has seemingly made people feel warmer and closer in this cold winter. “Tam biet” (Goodbye) and “Hen gap lai” (See you later) are the efforts they made after the two nights learning Vietnamese to be able to communicate with the kids at An Tay orphange. Goodbye and See you soon! You are always welcome here in our place.

If this were a diary, it would be a non-ending one which others will probably keep on writing on it soon... Magic just happens as people exchange love.
